Best Places to Stay in Yosemite National Park

If you are heading to Yosemite National Park, you are going to need somewhere to stay. Luckily, as the third most-visited national park in the country, there is no shortage of hotels, hostels, and other lodgings in the area. Here, we want to look at some of the best of them. We have something to fit absolutely every budget here!

Big Trees Lodge

Constructed in 1876, Big Trees Lodge (Previously known as Wawona Hotel) is one of the oldest mountain resorts in California. Decorated in period Victorian style, stepping into this hotel is akin to traveling back in time. Everything inside is ridiculously authentic.

All of the rooms at Big Trees Lodge have fantastic views throughout the area. The hotel management have given you a lot of time to enjoy it too. There is no TV, telephone, or internet access in any of the rooms. So, you are basically going to be ‘camping’, albeit in a comfortable hotel. What better way to enjoy Yosemite National Park?

Don’t worry. You can still enjoy a few of the ‘creature comforts’ at Big Trees Lodge. This includes a fantastic golf course, swimming pool, and an award-winning spa.

Yosemite Valley Lodge

For families, and those on more of a budget, the Yosemite Valley Lodge may be one of the best places to stay in Yosemite National Park. This place can be found at the base of Yosemite Falls, which means that you are going to be right in the heart of things here.

There are plenty of ways to explore the national park. In fact, Yosemite Valley Lodge offers both cycling and rafting excursions. Of course, you can always head on your own if you wish.

The Ahwahnee

The Ahwahnee is the perfect hotel for those who want something luxury, but also in the midst of one of the most beautiful national parks in the world. If you stay at the Ahwahnee, you will be staying at a place frequented by Presidents and Royals alike. This should give you an idea as to the type of luxury you would expect here.

From the moment you step through the door of the Ahwahnee, you will be fascinated by just how much the hotel has managed to blend in with the local culture. This includes traditional arts and crafts on sale, as well as handmade candy from the region. This isn’t just a luxury hotel that just so happens to be in Yosemite National Park. This is a hotel that belongs here. It is one that promotes the culture of the region.

Of course, since this is a luxury hotel, you can expect absolutely everything to be perfect. You would be right. The decor is fantastic. The amenities at the Ahwahnee are well-kept. It is also in one of the best regions in the park. Close by you have Yosemite Falls, Glacier Point, and Half Dome.

Curry Village

Located just a short hop from Glacier Point, Curry Village has been catering to visitors to Yosemite National Park since 1899. It has been doing a fantastic job at that too.

Curry Village is a nice blend of different accommodations. You have hotel rooms. You have traditional wooden cabins. You also have well-kitted out tents that you can spend the night in. The choice is yours, and there are very few places in Yosemite that will give you this choice.

If you do head to Curry Village, then your best option is to stay in one of the canvas tents. They have a full-sized bed inside. However, since you are going to be in a tent, you are going to enjoy the fantastic sounds and sights that Yosemite is known for. It really is a relaxing experience.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink at Curry Village, so you will be able to enjoy some local delicacies too!

Housekeeping Camp

While Housekeeping Camp doesn’t sound like the most-awesome name in the world, it is covering from what is without a doubt one of the best places to stay in Yosemite National Park. This place is close to Glacier Point and Yosemite Falls, so it is a fantastic place to start exploring the best of what the National Park has to offer.

Housekeeping Camp is basically for ‘camping’, although there is no need to set up the tent yourself! Each of the ‘camps’ is formed of a three-walled building. There will be a cover to give you a bit of privacy. Of course, these camps will be a little bit more luxurious than a tent. They will include a bookshelf, a few books etc. It is really designed to give you the camping experience without the hassle of bringing a tent along.

Housekeeping Camp is an incredibly unique place in Yosemite. If you do stay here, then make sure that you opt for one of the rooms near the river. It is going to provide you with a much more relaxing experience.

White Wolf Lodge

This is an accommodation that has pretty much been designed for hikers in Yosemite. There are very few rooms available (just 24 tents and 4 cabins), which helps to keep a nice and tranquil feel to your stay here. White Wolf Lodge actively encourages you to associate with other guests too.

Each and every morning, you can head to the lookout point at White Wolf Lodge to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Since White Wolf Lodge is a bit out of the way in comparison to other places in Yosemite National Park, you really feel as if you can get ‘up close and personal’ with things too.

Remember; this is just a small smattering of the best places to stay in Yosemite. We could have listed dozens and dozens of places. However, if you head to any of the places on this list, you know that you are going to be staying in a place that is among the best of the best. You should check these places out first.
